O'Connor is one of ten TV-host hopefuls who were chosen from more than 9,500 audition videos submitted online, as well as from open casting calls. Dr. Phil McGraw, Gayle King and other judges will select the winner after a series of challenges related to hosting a television show are completed.
O'Connor told AP that he hopes to become America's gay best friend. He said, "If a variety show and a traditional talk show had a baby, that'd be my show."
O'Connor regularly hosts the "musical theatrical" live talk show Ryan O'Connor Eats His Feelings in Los Angeles. He has appeared in RRRed: The Musical, as well as on the series "How I Met Your Mother" and in the film "The School of Rock."
