News Ryan Scott Oliver's 35mm A Musical Exhibition Will Get Dayton Premiere Ryan Scott Oliver's 35mm A Musical Exhibition, which played an acclaimed, extended New York run last winter, will be produced by Dayton Ohio's Encore Theater Company.

The Aug. 3-4 engagement is presented in association with the Human Race Theatre's Festival of New Musicals. Casting and creative duties for the production will be announced shortly.

35mm A Musical Exhibition is a collection of songs by Oliver, based on the photography of Matthew Murphy.

Here's how it's billed: "They say a picture is worth 1,000 words, but what about a song? Can one picture inspire a song? How about fifteen photos? In 35mm, each photo creates a different song completely disconnected from the other creating fifteen different and unique moments frozen in time; a glimmer of a life unfolding, a glimpse of something happening. This stunning new multimedia musical explores a groundbreaking new concept in musical theatre... This intricately woven collection of stories told through song re-imagines what the modern American musical can be."

A cast recording preserves the original New York production, which played Brooklyn's Galapagos Art Space.

Encore Theatre Company has also announced that it will produce the political, emo rock musical Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, featuring a score by Michael Friedman and a Tony-nominated book by Alex Timbers. It will begin performances this October. Visit EncoreTheaterCompany.com.
