Sabella-Mills, who replaces R. Bean as the exuberant news reporter, will continue in the role through Nov. 28. Sabella-Mills joins a company that currently includes Brenda Braxton as Velma Kelly, Paige Davis as Roxie Hart, Ray Bokhour as Amos Hart, Roz Ryan as Matron "Mama" Morton and Christopher Sieber as Billy Flynn. D. Sabella-Mills is the winner of the 1995 Luciano Pavarotti International Voice Competition. He has appeared numerous times at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall as well as in the Off-Broadway productions Watch Your Step, So Long 174th St. and FOXY. His opera credits include Giulio Cesare, Die Fledermaus and L’incoronazione di Poppea. Sabella recently married Tom Mills.
Chicago won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical in 1997 as well as awards for actors Bebe Neuwirth and James Naughton, director Walter Bobbie, lighting designer Ken Billington and choreographer Ann Reinking. The original production was directed and choreographed by the late Bob Fosse.
On Broadway, Chicago plays the Ambassador Theatre, 219 W. 49th Street.
