The production will play at California company's Stage for a Sept. 13-Oct. 16 run with an opening night set for Sept. 17.
In Bad Dates, Broderick stars as restaurant manager and shoe connoisseur Haley Walker who has recently rejoined the dating scene. As she prepares for yet another evening out, the Jimmy Choos devotee relates her experiences with gentlemen callers.
Broderick — known to TV audiences as Aunt Zelda in "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch" — has appeared in a number of stage works in New York and Los Angeles including Carnal Knowledge (Pasadena Playhouse). The actress seen on ABC's "Lost" made her film debut in "Stealing Home" and also appeared in the films "Psycho Beach Party," "Bonfire of the Vanities" and "Fools Rush In." She reunites Ivey, her co star on "The Five Mrs. Buchanans."
As an actress, Ivey has won Tony Awards for Steaming and Hurlyburly. She has also appeared on stage in Park Your Car in Harvard Yard, Blithe Spirit and Follies as well as a stint at the Los Angeles Opera in Stephen Sondheim's A Little Night Music. The one-time "Designing Women" star has directed the Off-Broadway and Los Angeles productions of Yeardley Smith's More as well as Steel Magnolias at Houston's Alley Theatre.
Rebeck's plays include The Butterfly Collection, Spike Heels, Loose Knit, The Family of Mann, View of the Dome and Omnium Gatherum (which she co wrote with Alexandra Gersten-Vassilaros). Her play The Water’s Edge, will make its New York premiere in the upcoming Second Stage Theater season with Kate Burton and Tony Goldwyn.
