News Sally Wilfert Will Sing at 54 Below Oct. 7; Michael Winther Is Special Guest Sally Wilfert, the actress-singer who appeared in Broadway's Assassins and Off-Broadway's See Rock City and Make Me a Song — and has brought her silken soprano to numerous benefits, concerts and regional productions — will step into the solo spotlight at 54 Below in midtown Manhattan on Oct. 7.

Jack Cummings III (artistic director of the Transport Group) directs her cabaret performance, with Chris Fenwick (Queen of the Mist) as music director. Michael Winther, her frequent vocal collaborator, will join her as a special guest. Expect a variety of songs from writers including William Finn, George Gershwin and Julianne Wick Davis. She'll premiere a couple of tunes that evening, too, she told Playbill.com.

Wilfert toured the country in the first national tour of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Off-Broadway, her credits also include The Lady in Penthouse B, The Mistress Cycle and The Prince & The Pauper. At Carnegie Hall she has appeared in Cole Porter's Jubilee, South Pacific in Concert (starring Reba McEntire), and Sondheim: A Tribute. Performing with the New York City Ballet at Lincoln Center, she was featured soloist, singing "Somewhere" for their performances of West Side Story Suite.

Wilfert has performed throughout the country, including shows at the LaJolla Playhouse, Cincinnati Playhouse, Baltimore Center Stage, Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, New Haven's Shubert Theatre, Barrington Stage, Northshore Music Theatre, Hartford Theatreworks, The Fulton Opera House, Connecticut Grand Opera, and The Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati in such shows as Little Miss Sunshine (world premiere), Marry Me A Little, Elegies, Les Miserables, The Last Five Years, Amadeus, Into the Woods, The Threepenny Opera to name a few.

Wilfert's other concert credits include Songs of Innocence and Experience (by William Finn), Broadway in South Africa, Jeff Blumenkrantz Songbook, Elegies: A Song Cycle and New York City Christmas. Her recording credits include Sweet Little Devil, Kitty's Kisses, New York City Christmas, Make Me A Song, Assassins, King David, The Prince & the Pauper, A Christmas Survival Guide, South Pacific in Concert and Sondheim: A Tribute at Carnegie Hall. In the fall, she will appear in Roundabout Theatre Company's concert revival of the Broadway production of Assassins.

Wilfert and Winther appeared together at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's National Music Theater Conference in June, performing in a presentation of the new musical When We Met (book by Dan Collins, lyrics and music by Julianne Wick Davis).
