News Samuel French Off-Off-Broadway Short Play Fest to Accept Submissions Starting Jan. 6 The 34th annual Samuel French Off-Off-Broadway Short Play Festival will begin accepting submissions for its summer showcase of new works on Jan. 6.

The week-long festival, scheduled to run July 14-19 at the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre, will feature 40 short plays selected through nationwide submissions from playwriting workshops, university theatre programs and professional companies. All submissions must be postmarked by March 6 for consideration. On the final day of the festival, judges including playwrights, literary agents and artistic directors select the six works that will be licensed and published by Samuel French, Inc.

The winning 2008 short plays include The Dying Breed by Thomas Higgins, The Thread Men by Thomas C. Dunn, Ayravana Flies or A Pretty Dish by Sheila Callaghan, F**king Art by Bekah Brunstetter, The Grave by Gabe McKinley and Juniper; Jubilee by Janine Nabers.
