In Dinner With Friends, Margulies writes of two couples (a pair of successful food writers, and an artist and a lawyer) who have been close friends for a long time. When one couple breaks up, however, it sends shivers through all four friendships and the other marriage. Margulies, also the author of Sight Unseen and Collected Stories, has said Dinner is his most autobiographical play, as he has been with his wife for 21 years but watched many friends' relationships fall apart.

Leonard Foglia directs. Among his New York and national tour credits are Terrence McNally's Master Class, Wait Until Dark, If Memory Serves and One Touch of Venus for City Center's Encores!. He last helmed the Globe's God's Man in Texas in Festival 2000.

Featured as the two couples are Barbara Walsh (Falsettos, Big) as Karen, Robert Pescovitz as Gabe, Isabel Keating as Beth and Kurt Rhodes as Tom.

Designing Dinner are Michael McGarty (sets), David C. Woolard (costumes), David F. Segal (lighting) and Peter Golub (sound, original music). Joel Rosen and D. Adams are the stage managers. Tickets are $25-$42. The Globe Theatres are located in Balboa Park. For reservations, call (619) 239 2255. The Globe Theatres are on the web at http://www.theglobetheatres.org.
