SAN DIEGO -- The Performing Arts League has inaugurated on-line employment opportunities at the San Diego Rep, the La Jolla Playhouse, the Old Globe Theatre and other San Diego County performing arts venues.

Professionals looking for work in the performing arts can now log on to www.sandiego-online.com/sdpal and click on Jobs Online to research timely information on possible career opportunities.

Job listings from all 120 member organizations are updated weekly and remain on the site for 30 days or until the position is filled.

Job opportunities used to appear in "Followspots," a bimonthly newsletter distributed to league members, donors, media and the arts community. The immediacy of the web is a more effective way to get this information out to the community and to a wider net of potential candidates.

"Our goal is to develop our website into the ultimate resource for performing arts news. Now, in addition to listing information about performances, we can also help the best candidates to work behind the scenes," said Toni Robin, the League's marketing director."Eventually we'd like to link the site to become a well-known source for local performing art job postings, just like the Sunday classifieds are well-known for general help-wanted listings." The League website currently contains a complete listing of "What's Playing on Stage in San Diego," daily updates of half-price show listings at "Arts Tix," links to member websites and advocacy information.
