News San Francisco Engagement of Billy Elliot Will Close Early The San Francisco engagement of the Tony-winning Billy Elliot the Musical will play its final performance at the Orpheum Theatre Aug. 21 rather than the previously announced Sept. 17.

Billy Elliot opened in San Francisco June 28. Patrons who have purchased tickets for after Aug. 21 will be able to receive a full refund or move their tickets to another date. For more information, contact Audience Services at 888 746 1799.

Billy Elliot the Musical, according to press notes, is the "joyous celebration of one boy’s journey to make his dreams come true. Set in a small town, the story follows Billy as he stumbles out of the boxing ring and into a ballet class, discovering a surprising talent that inspires his family and his whole community and changes his life forever."

The musical features music by Elton John, book and lyrics by Lee Hall, choreography by Peter Darling and direction by Stephen Daldry.
