Galyon, Gladen, Jones, Moore, O'Neill, Panikkar, and van den Heever are returning fellows from the 2006 season; outgoing 2006 fellows include soprano Kimwana Doner, countertenor Gerald Thompson and baritone Eugene Brancoveanu.
Pianist Matthew Piatt (Kansas) will continue his apprentice coach fellowship, a position created last season. He will act as pianist for classes of the Adler Fellows.
The Adler Fellowship is a performance-oriented residency offering individual training, coaching, professional seminars and performance opportunities throughout the San Francisco Opera season, as well as outside engagements. The Fellows are selected from the young artists who have participated in the company's Merola Opera Program; they perform supporting roles in San Francisco Opera's mainstage productions.
In addition to performances on the War Memorial Opera House mainstage, selected Adler Fellows are also featured in the Schwabacher Debut Recital Series. In 2007, fellows will be featured in two of the series' four performances: on February 18, Rhoslyn Jones, Katharine Tier, Noah Stewart and Jeremy Galyon join the New York Festival of Song's Steven Blier for a tribute to songwriters of the last quarter-century; on April 22, Melody Moore is featured in recital with pianist Mark Morash.
The 2007 Adler Fellows' season culminates in December 2007 with a gala concert featuring the singers in opera scenes and arias with the San Francisco Opera Orchestra at the War Memorial Opera House.
