An Asian-American gay writer in search of affection ends up Debunking Love in the world premiere comedy by Prince Gomolvilas, debuting Nov. 8-Jan. 6, 2001 at San Francisco's New Conservatory Theatre Center. Opening night is set for Nov. 18.
In an attempt to portray the gay Asian-American desire to assimilate into three different communities -- straight, gay and white -- Gomolivilas brings to life a young novelist with intense writer's block. His neurotic friends include rice queens and snow queens, Asian Americans and white Americans. All are "looking for love in all the wrong races." Debunking Love was originally developed at the Bay Area Playwrights Festival.
Gomolvilas' credits include Big Hunk o' Burnin' Love, Seat Belts and Big Fat Buddhas and the award-winning The Theory of Everything. His Bee, commissioned by the Lorraine Hansberry Theatre, will premiere in March, 2001.
