LOS ANGELES -- Will Rogers will ride into the San Gabriel Civic Auditorium on Feb. 6 when the resident company, The Music Theatre of Southern California, unveils its production of The Will Rogers Follies: A Life in Revue . Closing date is Feb. 22. After opening on Broadway in 1991, Rogers was nominated for 11 Tony Awards, winning six of them, including Best Musical and Best Score. Betty Comden and Adolph Green wrote the book and lyrics, Cy Coleman the score. The latter received a 1992 Grammy Best Musical Show Album award for his composition.
Danny Michaels will portray Rogers. Bill Shaw directs, M. Roger Locke is the music director, Rikki Lugo the choreographer. The auditorium and box office are located at 320 S. Mission Drive, San Gabriel. Call (626) 308-2868 or the website www.musictheatre.org.
