It is Bernhard's first appearance in the West End in two years. According to press materials, the show is based on her ablum of the same name, which is described as a mixture of sophistication, sensuality and pure rock and roll, stirred with the passion of world music, providing a musical cross-cultural road trip which travels musically from New York, to Africa, the Middle East, and South America.

Her live performances are part comedy, part social satire, and part cabaret. Her last London show celebrated the 20th anniversary of her award-winning production Without You I'm Nothing. She first received acclaim as an actress as the obsessively neurotic groupie who attempts to kidnap Jerry Lewis in Martin Scorsese's 1983 classic, "The King of Comedy," a role that won her the Best Supporting Actress award in the National Society of Film Critics Awards. Her TV appearances include playing Nancy, a married woman who came out as a lesbian, on the hit sitcom "Roseanne" from 1991-1996, and guest-starring roles on "Ally McBeal," "Chicago Hope" and "Will & Grace.
