Alexandra Silber is not only an actor, she is a soon-to-be published author; her novel, After Anatevka, is available for pre-order February 12.
Having played Hodel in the West End production of Fiddler on the Roof and Tzeitl in the most recent Broadway revival of the show by Joseph Stein, Sheldon Harnick, and Jerry Bock, Silber explores Hodel’s journey after leaving her home. What happens after Hodel says goodbye to Tevye and heads to Kiev to find Perchik? Readers will have to wait until the book’s release July 4, 2017 for the full answer.
Until then, Silber delivers a sneak peek concert at Symphony Space in Manhattan March 28. The evening features eight world-premiere songs by musical theatre songwriters Julianne Wick Davis, Lance Horne, Will Reynolds and Eric Price, Matthew Sklar, Jeffrey Stock, Joseph Thalken, and Ben Toth, sung alongside passages from the book. Jessica Fontana, Santino Fontana, Daniel Rowan, Ryan Silverman, and Broadway legend John Cullum will perform the original compositions.
With a special introduction by Fiddler’s Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning lyricist, Sheldon Harnick, the evening promises to be a treat of original storytelling and music.
