Poet-playwright-actress Sarah Jones will perform excerpts from her upcoming 9/11 themed one-person show Waking the American Dream at Barnard College in New York City. Theatre critic Jonathan Kalb will lead a post-show discussion following the performance.

In Waking the American Dream — described as a "one-woman collage written and performed by Sarah Jones" — Jones explores ten diverse immigrants to the United States who were personally affected by the Sept. 11 attacks.

Jones explored similar themes of diversity in her previous one-woman works Surface Transit and Women Can't Wait in which she took on the intertwining personas of eight characters for both productions, garnering a Drama Desk Award nomination for the former.

The excerpts from Waking the American Dream will be performed in Julius Held Lecture Hall in Barnard Hall of Barnard College, 3009 Broadway at 7PM. Doors will open at 6 PM for the event which is free and open to the public on a first-come, first served basis.
