News Sarah Rice and Marni Nixon to Sing Sondheim Unplugged Sept. 27 Sweeney Todd's original Johanna, Sarah Rice, will join Marni Nixon, of the 2001 revival of Follies, for the Sept. 27 installment of Sondheim Unplugged at the Laurie Beechman Theatre.

In addition to Rice and Nixon, the 7 PM concert will include performances by Farah Alvin, Lisa Asher, Bobby Belfry, Carol J. Bufford, Scott Coulter, Matt Farnsworth, Terese Geneco, Rob Maitner, Colleen McHugh, Trevor Southworth, Lucia Spina and Anne Fraser Thomas.

Ted Firth musical directs the evening that is hosted by Phil Geoffrey Bond.

The series launched at the Beechman in summer 2010 and features an array of cabaret and theatre performers, as well as special guest stars who appeared in the original cast or revivals of Sondheim's musicals. The performers are accompanied solely by piano.
