Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins give their first staged reading of The Guys, Anne Nelson's moving play about the events of September 11, at the Royal Lyceum Theatre on Aug. 14. They will also perform on Aug. 15 and 16.

The play, which began at the little Flea Theatre in New York (near the Twin Towers), has also proved a hit in Los Angeles, where Robbins appeared with Helen Hunt.

The Guys is based on a true story — of how playwright Nelson helped a New York Fire Brigade captain compose eulogies for several of his men who perished when the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center collapsed after being struck by the hijacked aircraft.

In the play, Nick (Tim Robbins) turns up at Joan's (Susan Sarandon) apartment, still traumatized, with his voice barely audible. The play ends with him, in uniform, giving a eulogy.
