Adam John Hunter will direct a cast that includes Saycon Sengbloh (Fela!), Marva Hicks (Caroline, or Change), Michael Potts (The Book of Mormon), Brenda Pressley (The American Plan), Nathaniel Stampley (The Color Purple), Nikiya Mathis (The Brother/Sister Plays), LeRoy McClain (born bad), Yusef Miller, Peterson Townsend and Erin Michelle Washington.

A Host of Sparrows, written by Sarita Louise Moore and Justin Scribner, features music by David Kreppel and lyrics adapted from poetry by Countee Cullen and Claude McKay.

"Set in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1944," the musical, according to press notes, is a "coming-of-age story that explores the relationships, loves, and losses of a small group of African-Americans in a rundown bar called The Taj Mahal, whose lives are inexorably affected by the arrival of an aimless young woman, Suzanne Walker."

Soho Playhouse is located at 15 Vandam Street, between Varick St. & Sixth Ave. For reservations or to inquire more about the project, email [email protected].
