News Schulman to Direct Murray, Conolly and Stout in Good Companions Little Women's Susan H. Schulman will direct a one-night-only staged reading of The Good Companions to benefit The Acting Company.

The Jan. 9 evening — part of the Acting Company's 2005-2006 Salon Series of staged readings — will be held at 7 PM at The Culture Project. Those set to be part of the Andre Previn-Johnny Mercer work include Brian Murray, Patricia Conolly and Mary Stout. The Good Companion is based on J.B. Priestly’s classic work and “centers on three unhappy people, out to change their lives, [who] meet and join a run-down vaudeville group. Naming themselves The Good Companions, they’re off on a tour of seedy theatres and seaside resorts sweeping us through the English countryside along the high road of romantic adventure.”

The Acting Company, America's foremost touring repertory theatre and arts education program, was honored in 2003 with the Tony for Excellence in Theater. Founded in 1972 by John Houseman and Margot Harley, its alumni include Kevin Kline, Patti LuPone, Jeffrey Wright, Frances Conroy, Casey Biggs and Jesse L. Martin.

The Culture Project is located in Manhattan at 45 Bleecker Street. For tickets call (212) 258-3111.
