News Scott Burkell Will Head Cast of Farmers Alley Theatre's Urinetown Casting has been announced for the Farmers Alley Theatre's upcoming production of the Tony-winning musical Urinetown, which will play the Michigan venue July 15-31.

Directed by Laurel Scheidt, the cast will be headed by Scott Burkell, who was seen on Broadway in A Catered Affair, as Officer Lockstock. He will be joined on stage by Jeremy Koch, Amanda Martin, Michael Scheidt, Gina Maria Chimner and Becky Thomason.

"Satirizing everything from West Side Story to Les Miserables," Urinetown, press notes state, is a "hilarious tale of greed, corruption, love and revolution. In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage has led to a government enforced ban on private toilets. Now its citizens must pay for the privilege to pee!"

The Brechtian musical comedy by lyricist-librettist Greg Kotis and composer-lyricist Mark Hollmann won 2002 Tonys for Best Score, Best Book and Best Direction (John Rando).

The production will also feature music direction by Catherine Walker Adams and choreography by Kathryn S. Williams.
