While An Ideal Husband continues to be a success on Broadway, Oscar Wilde's comedy also has been chosen to open the 1996-97 season at South Coast Repertory (SCR) in Costa Mesa, CA.
The 100-year-old satire portrays a British ambassador who is caught between supporting a controversial political issue or being threatened with a piece of his past that could hurt his future.
The show is directed by Martin Benson, who has staged nearly a third of the productions in SCR's 32-year history.
Previews for the SCR production of An Ideal Husband begin August 30, and it opens Sept. 6 and runs through Oct. 6. Tickets are $18-41, and are available by calling (714) 957-4033.
