News Scrooge — with Tommy Steele — Opens in London Nov. 8
Tommy Steele makes his return to the London stage, and the London Palladium, where he’s enjoyed some of his biggest hits, when Scrooge opens Nov. 8.

It was the Palladium where Steele headlined Singin’ in the Rain for a record-breaking 894 performances.

Steele became famous with a string of Hollywood movies, including “The Happiest Millionaire,” “Finian’s Rainbow” and “Half a Sixpence.” He’ll play in Leslie Bricusse’s Christmas show for a limited season through Jan. 14, 2006.

The show, seen around the world, has been revised for the London engagement. There are specially created illusions by Paul Kieve, the magician who created magic effects for the “Harry Potter” films, direction by Bob Tomson and designs by Paul Farnsworth.

Bricusse wrote the lyrics, music and the book. He’s best known for his work with Anthony Newley, including the show Stop the World I Want to Get Off (which ran for 556 performances on Broadway), the song “Goldfinger” and the film “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.”

The cast for Scrooge also includes Barry Howard, Richard Tate, James Head, Gemma Page, Gareth Jones, Janine Roebuck, Glyn Kerslake, Susan Humphris, Andrew Wright, Alex Graumond, Martin Neely, Tom Solomon, Abigail Jaye, Gemma Baird, John McManus, Emma Tapley, In Saunders, Claire Parrish, Joanna Fell, Tarah McDonald and Gabriel Vick.
