News SDC Names O'Reilly and Easley Callaway Winners for Direction and Choreography Director Ciarán O'Reilly and choreographer Byron Easley are the recipients of the Joe A. Callaway Award for the 2009-10 New York theatre season, the Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF) announced at its Nov. 15 annual meeting.

O'Reilly was cited for his work on Irish Repertory Theatre's The Emperor Jones, and Easley was named for his work on urbanStages' Langston in Harlem.

The 2010 Joe A. Callaway Award recognizes excellence in the craft of directing and choreography during the New York City theatre season from Sept. 1, 2009, to Aug. 31, 2010, and is the only award given by professional directors and choreographers to their peers for specific productions. The Callaway Committee, composed of Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC) members, considers all professional shows other than Broadway and Showcase productions produced within New York City. Nearly 200 productions were eligible this season.
