Hal Brooks (The Whale, Long Story Short, No Child) directs the world-premiere adaptation of de Beaumarchais' comedy, which inspired Mozart's opera. Performances are scheduled through Nov. 18 at the Pearl's new Off-Broadway home at 555 W. 42nd Street, formerly the home of the Signature Theatre Company.

Pearl fixture McNall (A Life in the Theatre, Richard II) stars in the title role in a cast that also features Jolly Abraham (Coram Boy, Bombay Dreams) as Suzanne, Chris Mixon as Count Almaviva, Joey Parsons as Countess Almaviva, Dan Daily as Doctor Bartholo, Robin Leslie Brown as Marceline, Tiffany Villarin as Fanchette, Ben Charles as Cherubin/Doublemain and Brad Heberlee as Bazile/Antonio/Bridoison.

According to the Pearl, "In Morey's Figaro, the enterprising Figaro (servant, barber, professional troublemaker) is getting married in the morning and couldn't be happier. But with everybody scheming to come between him and his bride, Figaro will need all his cunning to make it down the aisle. Flitting between naughty nobles and wily nobodies, this new adaptation of Beaumarchais's comic masterpiece offers clever schemes, crafty disguises, and just a soupcon of true love conquers all."

The design team includes Jo Winiarski (sets), Barbara A. Bell (costumes), Stephen Petrilli (lighting) and Jane Shaw (sound).

Playwright and adaptor Morey is the author of ten plays which have been produced by Denver Center Theatre Company, Pioneer Theatre Company, Milwaukee Rep, Indiana Rep, Geva Theatre, Alabama Shakespeare, Shakespeare and Company, Asolo Theatre, Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, Meadow Brook Theatre, PCPA and beyond.
