Classic Arts News Seattle and Pittsburgh Opera Heads Make Super Bowl Bet The general directors of Seattle Opera and Pittsburgh Opera have made a wager on the outcome of Super Bowl XL next month, the two companies announced.
The Seattle Seahawks and the Pittsburgh Steelers will play in the game, which takes place in Detroit on February 5.

Speight Jenkins, the general director of Seattle Opera and a Seahawks backer, and Mark Weinstein, the Steelers fan who directs Pittsburgh Opera, agreed that the loser of the bet will wear the opposing team's jersey to his next board meeting, where he and the board will be photographed with the emblem of defeat and humiliation.

"It was an easy bet to make, as the Seahawks, a team of destiny, are sure to win," Jenkins said.

Weinstein responded, "Speight, the opera's board, and indeed all of Seattle are in for a real shock! Nothing can stand in the way of the Steelers' fifth Super Bowl victory."

Singers from both Seattle Opera and Pittsburgh Opera have sung the National Anthem at their respective teams' games in recent seasons.
