The 5th Avenue Theatre, located in Seattle, Washington, will launch its 2023-2024 season August 2 with the national tour of the Tony-winning Sherman Edwards-Peter Stone musical 1776. Directed by Jeffrey L. Page and Diane Paulus, the acclaimed production features an all-female, transgender, and non-binary-cast. Performances will continue through August 6.

Glenn Casale will then direct Disney's The Little Mermaid, celebrating the 35th anniversary of the animated film upon which the musical is based. Running September 14-October 8, the production will also have choreography by John ManInnis and musical direction by RJ Tancioco.

The tour of Lauren Yee's Cambodian Rock Band, a co-production with ACT–A Contemporary Theatre, will follow, playing September 29-November 5. The musical, which tells the story of a Khmer Rouge survivor returning to Cambodia for the first time in 30 years, features the music of Dengue Fever.

Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, directed by David Armstrong and James A. Rocco, will arrive just in time for the holiday season. Based on the Paramount Pictures film, the musical will be presented November 25-December 27 and will also feature choreography by co-director Rocco.

Something’s Afoot, featuring a book, music, and lyrics by James McDonald, David Voss, and Robert Gerlach with additional music by Ed Linderman, will play 5th Avenue March 1-24, 2024. Directed by Bill Berry, the musical pokes fun at Agatha Christie's famed murder mysteries.

Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater's Tony-winning Spring Awakening will arrive June 7 for a limited run through June 30. The emotional journey through the turbulence of adolescence will feature direction by Jay Woods, musical direction by RJ Tancioco, and choreography by Katy Tabb.

The season will conclude with the murder mystery Clue, based on the 1985 Paramount film that was inspired by the Hasbro board game of the same name. Jonathan Lynn, Hunter Foster, Sandy Rustin, and Eric Price's play will be offered July 9-21.

“There is nothing more powerful than a dream,” says Producing Artistic Director Bill Berry. “This season we’ve combined a selection of shows that examines the power of always searching for something better than the here and now. Whether it’s about a mermaid who is searching to be part of the human world, a survivor of the Khmer Rouge who is processing past and future, or a teenager persevering through tragedy and dreaming of hope for the future, dreams are what keep us going even when we feel like the world is against us.”
