Omnium Gatherum by Theresa Rebeck and Alexandra Gersten-Vassilaros was a hit at the 2003 Humana Festival at the Actors Theatre of Louisville. The drama is described by its authors as "a mad tea party at the end of the world," a release stated. The cast of characters — as the title implies — is a hodgepodge of guests including a Martha Stewartesque hostess, a conservative American novelist, a vegan feminist, a female African-American minister, an Arab scholar, a British intellectual, a New York firefighter and a suprise guest. Jon Jory directs a cast that includes Kent Broadhurst, David Drummond, Cynthia Jones, Joseph Kamal, Eddie Levi Lee, Dennis Mosely, Mari Nelson and Marianne Owen.

The design team features Robert Dahlstrom (set), Marcia Dixcy Jory (costume), Greg Sullivan (lighting) and Eric Chappelle (sound).

Under ACT’s new artistic director, Kurt Beattie, the season concludes (Oct. 31-Nov. 23) with Pamela Gien's The Syringa Tree — which began ACT’s Bullitt stage in 1999. Larry Moss will direct.

Tickets to Omnium Gatherum, at ACT, 7th Avenue and Union Street, are available by calling (206) 292-7676 or online at www.acttheatre.org.
