News Second Touring Production of Jersey Boys Will Launch in December 2011 A second touring production of the Tony, Grammy and Olivier Award-winning hit musical Jersey Boys, the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, will launch in Philadelphia, PA, later this year.

Performances will begin Dec. 6 at the Forrest Theater, and the six-week engagement will officially open Dec. 9. Casting will be announced in the fall.

In a statement producer Michael David said, "We are thrilled that the public’s interest in Jersey Boys has generated the demand for a second North American touring production. We continue to be amazed and humbled at how universally this story and its music seem to touch people; from San Francisco to Schenectady, and around the world – Toronto, Australia, London, and hopefully beyond."

Mark Schweppe, Senior Director of Theatre Operations for The Shubert Organization, added, "Jersey Boys had a phenomenal premiere engagement at the Forrest Theater in Fall 2010, having electrified over 140,000 theatergoers. Jersey Boys holds the top 9 box office grosses at the Forrest, and we look forward to having the show back in town with the launch of the new company."

The musical is the winner of the 2006 Best Musical Tony Award, the 2006 Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album, the 2009 Olivier Award for Best New Musical and the 2010 Helpmann Award for Best Musical (Australia).

Directed by two-time Tony Award winner Des McAnuff, Jersey Boys is written by Academy Award winner Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, with music by Bob Gaudio, lyrics by Bob Crewe and choreography by Sergio Trujillo. The musical opened at the August Wilson Theatre on Broadway to critical acclaim on Nov. 6, 2005.
