News See Ann Harada, Arielle Jacobs, Jose Llana, Ali Ewoldt Join the Aladdin Family to Celebrate Adam Jacobs' Solo Album Adam Jacobs, who stars as the titular street rat in Disney's Aladdin on Broadway, released his solo debut album "Right Where I Belong" Dec. 13. Friends and castmates came out to celebrate the evening before.

"Right Where I Belong" is a compilation of songs by Academy and Tony Award-winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Newsies, Aladdin). Among the songs featured on the album are "Proud of Your Boy" (Aladdin), "Go The Distance" ("Hercules"), "Santa Fe" (Newsies) and "Suddenly Seymour" (Little Shop of Horrors, in duet with Jacobs' sister Arielle Jacobs), in addition to rarely-heard songs from the Menken catalogue.

Music direction and arrangements for the album were provided by James Abbott. Allan Detsky and Adam Jacobs are the executive producers.

"I'vealways loved Alan's music, whether it was listening to classics like Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid when I was a kid, or singing his beloved songs onstage in Aladdin for the past 5 years," Jacobs said in a statement. "I can't think of another composer whose music speaks so personally to people on so many different levels. Every song on my album carries the power to transport the listener and take them on a hero's journey. Alan can make you laugh, cry, and jump for joy all in the same song. It's truly an honor to share some of my favorite tunes of this world-class composer – I hope they inspire people as much as they've inspired me, both professionally and personally.

Menken added, "For the last 5 years, Adam and I have shared the most incredible journey: bringing an animated character who is so close to my heart to life on a Broadway stage,” said Menken. "And every step of the way I have been taken by Adam’s brilliant musicality and exciting stage presence as our Aladdin. Now, along with the rest of the world, I have the privilege of hearing an album’s worth of my songs, drawn from all kinds of diverse sources and moments in my composing career, brought fully to life by this amazing and talented young man. I hope everyone will find this experience as richly rewarding as I do."
