The Longacre Theatre is home to A Bronx Tale The Musical, which opens on Broadway December 1 after a world premiere at New Jersey’s Paper Mill Playhouse. Ariana DeBose, Bobby Conte Thornton, and Nick Cordero head the cast. The story follows a young man (Thornton) as he navigates family life and a budding interracial relationship with a young woman (DeBose) in a tough Bronx neighborhood run my a charismatic mobster (Cordero).
Book is by Chazz Palminteri. Alan Menken (music) and Glenn Slater (lyrics) provide the tunes which incorporate an assortment of soulful pop music styles from the early 1960s. Robert De Niro and Jerry Zaks co-direct the production—De Niro directed and starred alongside Palminteri in the 1993 film adaptation of the show; Zaks directed Palminteri in his 2007 Broadway run of the show.
