The up-and-coming performer sang the Bridges of Madison County song at a recent Green Room 42 performance.

Sally Shaw, winner of Playbill's 2021 Search for a Star contest, made her NYC debut with a March 12 solo show at The Green Room 42. See the up-and-coming performer's take on The Bridges of Madison County's "Another Life," penned by Jason Robert Brown, from the evening above. The video is filmed by Rebecca J Michelson.

Shaw won Playbill's singing competition with a performance of "Stay" from Amélie. Her submission was selected as one of the 10 best by a panel of judges—including casting directors Duncan Stewart, Benton Whitley, and Micah Johnson-Levy; producer Brian Moreland; director Sammi Cannold; talent manager Harold Lewter; and performers L Morgan Lee and Telly Leung—from hundreds of submissions. These finalists went to the readers of Playbill for a one-week voting period in which 21-year-old Shaw came out on top. More than 15,000 total votes were cast.

Currently pursuing a BFA in musical theatre at Ithaca College, Shaw used her NYC concert debut to perform a collection of songs exploring the paradox of her career beginning as much of the theatrical world was still reeling from the effects of COVID-19, explaining that the "heart of this show... [is] centered around Joni Mitchell's 'Both Sides Now'."

Shaw's New York credits include Sasha Velour's Nightgowns: The Musical at the Connelly Theatre, and regional credits include The Snow Queen at Cherry Arts (S.A.L.T. Award nomination) and What Haunts You with Clockmaker Arts at the Kitchen Theatre. Shaw also makes costumes and manages merchandise for the Brooklyn band Sammy Rae & the Friends.
