HBO has released the trailer for the world premiere of The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, a film that details the real-life story of an African-American woman whose cells were unwittingly used for medical research in the 1950s. Tony winner Renée Elise Goldsberry stars as Henrietta Lacks in the new TV movie, alongside Oprah Winfrey and Rose Byrne.
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks will debut on HBO April 22 at 8 PM. The film is adapted from Rebecca Skloot’s best-selling book and directed by two-time Tony winner George C. Wolfe.
Since departing Hamilton on Broadway, Goldsberry has also played roles on the TV series The Get Down and Altered Carbon.
