Kataka Corn will return to the 5th Avenue Theatre for its first-ever staging of The Wiz. The seven-time Tony-winning musical will play the Seattle venue November 19-December 23, with direction and choreography by Kelli Foster Warder.

After starring in last season's world premiere of Afterwords, Corn will step into the role of Dorothy. The cast will also feature Nehemiah Hooks as Scarecrow, Phillip Attmore as Tin Man, Nathaniel Tenenbaum as Lion, Be Russell as The Wiz, Shaunyce Omar as Evillene, Trina Mills as Glinda, and Sarah Russell as Addaperle. 

Rounding out the cast are Marlette Buchanan as Aunt Em and Brace Evans as Uncle Henry with ensemble members Time Brickey, Jimmy Shields, Gabrielle Dominique, Shelby Willis, Madison Willis, Alexandria J. Henderson, Alfie Parker Jr., Alex Crozier, Charles Simmons, Jade Solomon Curtis, Jelani Kee, and Bethanie Willis. Porscha Shaw and Nicholas Japaul Bernard are covers. Swings include Antonio Mitchell, Curtis Bannister, Sapphire Goetz, and Simone Alene.

The Wiz is a retelling of L. Frank Baum's children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and follows Dorothy as she finds her way back to Kansas after being transported to a magical land. The musical features music and lyrics by Charlie Smalls and a book by William F. Brown.

This production will also have music direction by Sandra Renee Clark, scenic design by Eli Sherlock, costume coordination by Jarrod Barnes, lighting design by Tristan Roberson, sound design by Haley Parcher, and wig and hair design by Kelley Jordan. The associate music director is William Knowles, the associate director is Shermona Mitchell, and the associate choreographer is Nikki Long.
