Seeking support in its 128-day old commercial strike, the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) will sponsor a rally this week aimed at strengthening the bond between SAG and Actors' Equity. The rally will be held at 4:30 PM at the Royale Theatre on Sept. 7.

Philip Bosco, star of Copenhagen, the Tony Award winning Best Play currently running at the Royale, is organizing the labor event. Co-hosting the rally with Bosco is Robert Klein.

"The purpose of the event is to gain cross-union support for the strike and to bring Equity members on-board" a SAG spokesperson told Playbill On Line.

Last week, Equity president Patrick Quinn told Playbill On-Line that his union had mailed an announcement to its members concerning the event.

Among the celebrities expected at the Royale Theatre are Bosco, Klein, Harry Belafonte, Kevin Bacon, Bill Irwin, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and New York State Controller Carl McCall who spoke at the A.F.L.C.I.O. convention last week and is said to be considering a New York gubernatorial run next year. The Royale Theatre is located at 242 W. 45th Street. The SAG/Equity strike rally is scheduled to begin promptly at 4:30 PM and will run for approximately two hours.
