The 480-page tome, previously released in hardback, features a collection of Laurents' groundbreaking plays. Titles include Home of the Brave, The Enclave, Jolson Sings Again, My Good Name, 2 Lives, Closing Bell and Attacks on the Heart. The book, which is the only collection of Laurents' plays, boasts a foreword by playwright Terrence McNally. Arthur Laurents, the librettist for West Side Story; Hallelujah, Baby!; Anyone Can Whistle; and Gypsy, began writing for the theatre more than 50 years ago with the play Home of the Brave. Among his other works are The Time of the Cuckoo, Jolson Sings Again and 2 Lives. The latter is the opener for New Jersey's George Street Playhouse's upcoming season. Laurents received a Best Director Tony Award for the original production of La Cage aux Folles. His candid autobiography, published a few years back, is titled "Original Story By."
"Selected Plays of Arthur Laurents" has a retail price of $16.95. Back Stage Books is an imprint of Watson Guptill Publications.
