O'Connell has been cast as family patriarch Herman Munster, and Izzard (A Day in the Death of Joe Egg, Race) will play Grandpa. Also in the cast are Mason Cook and Charity Wakefield. The pilot, which will be directed by Bryan Singer and is written by Bryan Fuller, is described as "a reinvention of the 1960s sitcom about The Munsters, a family of 'monsters'— vampires, werewolves and Frankenstein, and their 'plain' cousin (Wakefield)—that will feature striking visuals in the vein of Fuller's ABC dramedy 'Pushing Daisies.'"
O'Connell, who played the role of Douglas in Broadway's Seminar, is best known for his work in film and television, which includes "Sliders," "Stand by Me," "Jerry Magurie" and "Crossing Jordan," among others. Visit his page at the Playbill Vault.
