News Seth Rudetsky Will Host Gypsy of the Year; Original Cast of Grease Will Perform The 23rd Annual Gypsy of the Year competition — benefiting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS — will be held Dec. 5 at 4:30 PM and Dec. 6 at 2 PM at The New Amsterdam Theatre, home of the Disney-Cameron Mackintosh musical Mary Poppins.

The original Broadway cast of Grease will reunite for a special 40-year anniversary tribute during the opening number of the annual fundraiser.

Among the stars returning to the stage will be Barry Bostwick (Danny), Carole Demas (Sandy), Adrienne Barbeau (Betty Rizzo), Alan Paul (Teen Angel/Johnny Casino) and Walter Bobbie (Roger) as well as Don Billett (Vince Fontaine), James Canning (Doody), Daniel Douglas (Burger Palace Boy), Katie Hanley (Marty), Tom Harris (Eugene), Ilene Kristen (Patty Simcox), Joy Rinaldi (Pink Lady) and Mews Small (Frenchy).

This year’s competition will again be hosted by Broadway personality Seth Rudetsky, who is also a Playbill.com columnist.

Additional performers, presenters and judges will be announced soon.

The annual competition comes after six weeks of intensive fundraising by various shows on and off Broadway as well as touring productions throughout the country. It's a chance to celebrate the Broadway gypsies while raising funds for the worthy organization. Awards are presented in two categories: for best skit and for most money raised for BC/EFA.

Last year, Gypsy of the Year raised $3,776,720, pushing the competition's 22-year total to $44,136,720.
