Classic Arts News SF JAZZ Announces Spring Season San Francisco's SF JAZZ has announced the lineup for its 2005 spring season, with 36 concerts from March 12 through June 26 at venues across the city.
According to the San Jose Mercury News, highlights include a multi-concert tribute to John Coltrane, with performances by Ravi Coltrane, Branford Marsalis, McCoy Tyner, Joshua Redman, Rashied Ali and Sonny Fortune, and Michael Brecker, Joe Lovano, and Dave Liebman's Saxophone Summit.

Redman, the saxophonist and artistic director of SF JAZZ, returns with SF JAZZ Collective, an all-star group launched a year ago. The group also includes trumpeter Nicholas Payton, saxophonist Miguel Zenon, pianist Ren_e Rosnes, bassist Robert Hurst, drummer Brian Blade, and trombonist Josh Roseman.

Also scheduled to appear are Chick Corea, Ahmad Jamal, Lou Donaldson, the Mingus Big Band, Shirley Horn, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Steve Turr_, and Jason Moran, among others.

The 22-year-old SF JAZZ also stages the San Francisco Jazz Festival in the fall and an outdoor summer series.
