Children will have an opportunity to participate in scenes from two of Shakespeare's best-loved comedies, The Taming of the Shrewand A Midsummer's Night Dream, at New York's Lincoln Center on Jan. 31.
The kids will be cast as "sprites, fairies, nobles, lions" and other characters in extended sequences from both plays.
The sessions will be led by actors Steve Andresen and Cecelia Rubino, who will rehearse the children and "direct" the onstage scenes.
In addition, two episodes of an Emmy-winning series of animated Shakespeare tales will be screened.
Stand-up Shakespeare is part of "Reel to Real for Kids," Lincoln Center's Saturday-at-the movies series that combines classic films and live performances. The program is Jan. 31 at 11 AM and 1:30 PM at the Walter Reade Theatre at Lincoln Center, 65th St. and Broadway. For tickets, call (212) 875-5370.
