Playwright John Patrick Shanley will talk about his new play, Cellini, 7 PM Jan. 11 at the Lincoln Square Barnes & Noble in Manhattan.
The new work about Florentine sculptor Benvenuto Cellini will have its Manhattan premiere, under Shanley's direction, at Off Broadway's Second Stage Jan. 24.
He will also answer audience questions and sign copies of his work. Bronx writer Shanley penned Four Dogs and a Bone, Danny and the Deep Blue Sea and Italian American Reconciliation. He won an Academy Award for the screenplay for "Moonstruck."
The Lincoln Square Barnes & Noble is located at the corner of W 66th Street and Broadway.
Cellini continues to March 4. Renaissance artist Cellini was a larger-than-life character with a insatiable appetite for art and women. "From the court of the Medicis to the Holy City, this wickedly funny, erotic and inspirational adventure reveals the soul of a genius in his quest for immortality," according to production notes. The play was previously seen at Powerhouse Theatre at Vassar College, in a production by New York Stage and Film.
