News Shanley's Defiance Extends to June 4 The Manhattan Theatre Club world premiere production of John Patrick Shanley's Defiance has been extended for a third time.

Tickets are now on sale through June 4 at New York City Center's Stage I at 131 W. 55th Street. The production, directed by Doug Hughes, opened Feb. 28.

The cast features (in alphabetical order): Chris Bauer (Chaplain White), Chris Chalk (Captain Lee King), Margaret Colin (Margaret Littlefield), Stephen Lang (Lt. Colonel Littlefield), Trevor Long (Gunnery Sergeant), Jeremy Strong (P.F.C. Evan Davis).

According to MTC, "Defiance is set on a United States Marine Corps base in North Carolina in 1971. Two officers, one black (Chalk) and one white (Lang), are on a collision course over race, women, and the high cost of doing the right thing. The play is about power, love, and responsibility — who has it, who wants it, and who deserves it."

The play is the second work in a Shanley trilogy that began with Doubt.

The design team features John Lee Beatty (set), Catherine Zuber (costume), Pat Collins (lighting), David Van Tieghem (original music and sound). Tickets are $65 and can be reserved by calling CityTix at (212) 581-1212. Group and student rates are available. For group ticket information, call (212) 399-3000 ext. 134.
