Cake, which runs Aug. 1-5, is produced by Nabors and Jasmine Thomas, who also star as Ari and True, respectively. Also in the cast is George Ross II as Messiah.
According to the Araca Group, "Cake is a 90-minute dramedy about Messiah & Ari, two young African-American men who meet online for a casual encounter, but wind up invested in and connected to each other in ways neither of them expected. This play takes a heartbreakingly honest look at the unique way grief manifests itself in each of us and, more importantly, how we handle it when it does."
The creative team includes scenic consultant Felix Cochren, lighting designer Evan Gannon and sound designer Row Walters.

The 2012 lineup also includes the multi-composer musical Hot Mess in Manhattan, featuring music and lyrics by up-and-coming composers Ryan Scott Oliver, Kait Kerrigan & Brian Lowdermilk and Nick Blaemire; two additional plays (The Black Book, The Man With America Skin); an improvised musical (One Night Only); and a musical/comedy variety hour (The Rescignos). All productions are produced by young professionals who graduated between 2002 and 2012.
