News Sheet Music Selections from Memphis and Toxic Avenger Will Be Published Songs from the Joe DiPietro-David Bryan musicals Memphis and The Toxic Avenger will be published by the Hal Leonard Corporation in June.

The songbooks will be ready in time for the National Association of Music Merchants conference, Nashville, TN, June 18-20.

"DiPietro & Bryan represent the new wave of Broadway songwriting. The music from these shows is brilliantly crafted, with spectacular songs that stand very well on their own outside of the productions. More great collaborations are certainly in store from these guys," said Jeff Schroedl of the Hal Leonard Corporation.

Memphis, the Broadway rock 'n' roll musical about an interracial love affair in the segregated South, has a score that ranges from character-driven R&B material to songs which were penned to recall radio-hits of the 1950's.

Among the 15 songs from the score that will be included in the book are "Underground," "The Music of My Soul," "Ain’t Nothin’ But a Kiss," "Make Me Stronger," "Colored Women," "Someday," "She’s My Sister," "Radio," "Say a Prayer," "Big Love," "Love Will Stand When All Else Falls," "Stand Up," "Change Don’t Come Easy," "Memphis Lives in Me" and "Steal Your Rock ‘n Roll."

Toxic Avenger, which played an Off-Broadway run last fall, is based on the cult film about an unlikely superhero from the mythical town of Tromaville, NJ. The book will feature 13 songs from the musical including "Who Will Save New Jersey?," "Jersey Girl," "My Big French Boyfriend," "Thank God She’s Blind," "Big Green Freak," "Choose Me, Oprah!," "Hot Toxic Love," The Legend of the Toxic Avenger," Evil Is Hot," "Bitch/Slut/Liar/Whore," "You Tore My Heart Out," "All Men Are Freaks" and "A Brand New Day in New Jersey."
