News Shelter, the Musical, Following a Woman's Struggle With Homelessness, Begins NYMF Run July 26 The 2012 New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) and Brittany Bullen present the New York premiere of Shelter, the Musical, featuring a book, music and lyrics by Bullen with orchestrations by Newell Bullen, beginning July 26 at the PTC Performance Space.

Directed by Brighton Sloan, the musical plays July 26 at 8 PM, July 27 at 1 PM and 5 PM, July 28 at 5 PM and 9 PM and July 29 at 5 PM.

The cast includes Lauren Michelle Blake, Jenessa Bowen, Lena Candia, Adam Dietlein, Ariana Escalante, Jenny Gillette, Lisa Ann Grow, Julie Nelson Blatter, Jessica Pearce, Rebecca Raboy, Latoya Rhodes, Brittany Shamy, and Ashley Stonebraker. The production also features: Karina Gillette, Mindy Gillette, Noah Mayfield, Angie Rytting, Sasha Sloan and Arianna Stucki.

Shelter, according to press notes, "follows a group of women through their personal struggles with homelessness and deals with issues such as abusive upbringings, unemployment, criminal pasts and more. Shelter is a about a population without a voice in our society; about people the general public seldom gives much thought to in their day to day lives. It's about real women with real stories, feelings, needs and dreams for the future."

The creative team of Shelter has also teamed up with Women in Need, a NYC-based women's shelter to raise funds while performing at NYMF. For more information, click here.
