Sam Shepard

Playwright Sam Shepard (The Tooth of Crime, Buried Child) will appear alongside novelist Richard Ford at the Y's Unterberg Poetry Center on Nov. 2. Shepard will read from his new work. On Dec. 6 actor F. Murray Abraham will do a dramatic reading from Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice and Christopher Marlowe's The Jew of Malta. Theatre for a New Audience will produce both plays, starring Abraham, in early 2007.

Playwright Wallace Shawn and his wife, writer Deborah Eisenberg, will do a joint reading on Feb. 26, 2007. Shawn's plays include The Fever, Aunt Dan and Lemon and The Designated Mourner.

On Feb. 15, 2006, playwrights John Guare (Six Degrees of Separation) and Paul Rudnick (Regrets Only) will jointly appear as part of the "Afternoon Night Table" series of afternoon talks with writers about their work.
