News Sher to Stage Lucas-Muhly Opera at the Met and English National Opera A new opera by Tony-nominated playwright Craig Lucas and composer Nico Muhly will be workshopped and staged in a joint commission by Lincoln Center Theater and the Metropolitan Opera, according to the New York Times.

The opera is based on a true-life story of a 14-year-old boy in Britain who assumed the identities of women on the Internet in order to lure someone to murder him. Tony Award-winning director Bartlett Sher, who collaborated with Lucas on The Light in the Piazza, will direct. The commission is aiming to debut in June 2011 at the English National Opera and later arrive at the Met during the 2013-2014 season.
