Though their characters in Jason Robert Brown's The Last Five Years didn't end happily ever after, Sherie René Scott and Norbert Leo Butz reunite in a "workshopping" concert of the new musical Feeling Electric. The one night only performance will play at The Sh-K-Boom Room in The Cutting Room July 22.

Sh-K-Boom Records offers a look at the developmental process of creating a new musical with Feeling Electric. The work-in-progress by the composing team of Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey takes a look at a family's struggle with mental illness, pain and depression through rock music.

In addition to Scott and Butz, the cast of the concert will feature Greg Naughton, Anya Singleton and Ben Schrader. Performing behind the singers will be the Tom Kitt Band featuring Kitt (piano), Michael Aarons (guitar), Dan Grennes (bass), Damien Bassman (drums and percussion) with special guests Lyris Hung (violin) and Jason Lipman (cello).

Sh-K-Boom's mission is to "bridge the gap between pop music and theatre" by way of their Sh-K-Boom Room live concert series. The Last Five Years marked the first musical cast-album recording for the label that has released other albums by such theatre notables as Adam Pascal (Aida,Rent), Alice Ripley (Rocky Horror, Side Show) and Sherie René Scott (Aida, The Last Five Years). The label boasts the first recording of the annual "Broadway on Broadway" event.

Feeling Electric inaugurates the Sh-K-Boom Room concert series' efforts to feature songs from new musicals that will continue to be a regular part of the Sh-K Boom Room series.

Limited seating will be available to the public for Feeling Electric on July 22 at the Cutting Room, 19 West 24th Street. To be put on the waiting list, email [email protected]. For more information on Sh-K-Boom, visit www.sh-k boom.com.
