William Shakespeare's Cymbeline, first directing assigment for the Intiman's new artistic director Bartlett Sher (Waste), opens March 14 at the Seattle venue. Performances began March 9 for a run through April 7. Sher approaches Shakespeare's romantic tale from both Eastern and Western theatrical traditions, using a 19 member, multi-cultural cast. Julyana Soelistyo (Tony nominee for Golden Child) stars as Imogen, a young princess who leaves her father to find and reconcile with her husband Posthumus Leonatus (Jason Cottle), who has been turned against her by the seductive villian Iachimo (Jonathan Epstein).

Also in the cast are Anne Allgood (Queen), Philip Davidson (King Cymbeline), Aled Davies, Alban Dennis (Arviragus), Joe Conley Golden (Cloten), Lori Larsen, Dan Peterson (Belarius), Timothy McCuen Piggee (Caius Lucius), Demone LaShawn Gore, Alyssa Keene, Gina Malvestuto, Thea Mercouffer, Elliott Williams and Amelia Zirin-Brown.

Christopher Akerlind designed the lighting; Elizabeth Caitlin Ward, the costumes and Peter John Still, the sound and the original music. Wendiana Walker is the stage manager.
