News Shoshana Bean to Star in Funny Girl Broadway's onetime Elphaba in Wicked will play Fanny Brice.

Shoshana Bean, one of the replacement Elphabas in Broadway's Wicked, has been chosen to play Fanny Brice in a production of Funny Girl at North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT) near Boston.

The production is scheduled to begin performances June 7 and run through June 19. The rest of the cast will be announced at a later date.

The musical, which helped make a star of Barbra Streisand in its original 1964 production, has a score by Jule Styne and Bob Merrill, which includes “People,” “Don't Rain on My Parade” and “I'm the Greatest Star!”

The production was announced as part of the 2016-2017 NSMT season, which will also include productions of classics Mary Poppins, Singin’ in the Rain, Monty Python's Spamalot, West Side Story and A Christmas Carol.
