The 19th Annual Broadway Flea Market and Grand Auction — to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS — will be held Sept. 25 in Shubert Alley. The day-long fundraiser begins at 10 AM and continues through 7 PM. The nine-hour event feature both a Silent Auction and a Grand Auction filled with an overflow of items to delight Broadway fans. The Flea Market also boasts a Celebrity Table, where theatre fans can purchase autographs by, or photos with, their favorite stars from Broadway, Off-Broadway and television serials (there is a $20 charge each time one walks through the Celebrity Table line), and a special booth where interested partied can buy a copy of the newly published, first annual Playbill Broadway Yearbook.

Those scheduled to take part in the Celebrity Table include the following talents:

•11 AM-noon: Marj Dusay, Boyd Gaines, Jordan Gelber, Joe Grifasi, Julie Halston, Valerie Harper, Ilene Kristen, Jan Maxwell, Michael McGrath, Christopher McDonald, Bebe Neuwirth and Steven Rosen

•Noon-1 PM: Victoria Clark, Barrett Foa, Dan Fogler, Joanna Gleason, Jessica Hecht, Greg Jbara, Celia Keenan-Bolger, James Mitchell, Matthew Morrison, Rosie O'Donnell, Kelli O'Hara, Denis O'Hare and Timothy Stickney

•1-2 PM: Gary Beach, Kathy Brier, Tim Curry, Raúl Esparza, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Jenn Gambatese, Cherry Jones, Chad Kimball, Alix Korey, Adriane Lenox, Jose Llana, Deven May, Brían F. The Silent Auction, which begins at 10 minutes past the hour, will conclude at the end of each hour, and winners' names will be posted throughout the day at the pick-up table. The Silent Auction will commence at 10:10 AM: Among the items included in this year's auction are Amneris' wedding dress and veil from Aida; an opening-night Spamalot poster signed by the original Broadway cast; a musical phrase from Nine, handwritten and signed by composer Maury Yeston and star Antonio Banderas; a Kenn Duncan photo of Gwen Verdon; a handwritten "George Bush Is Only For Now" musical phrase signed by Avenue Q composers Bobby Lopez and Jeff Marx; a Julius Caesar poster signed by Denzel Washington; and numerous other items.

The Grand Auction will begin at 5 PM in Shubert Alley, although bids may also be made on the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS website. This year's Grand Auction items include the cast board from Julius Caesar, signed by each of the actors; an evening at Avenue Q, including two house seats, a backstage visit, an opening-night poster signed by the cast and an answering machine message voiced by a Q character; two tickets to the record-breaking Phantom of the Opera performance on Jan. 9, 2006, and tickets to the post-performance celebration party; an onstage appearance in Wicked, Rent or Mamma Mia!; the stool that Whoopi Goldberg sat on during the revival of her one-woman show signed by the Academy Award-winning actress; and many other Broadway items.

Also on sale at the event will be "The Playbill Broadway Yearbook," which commemorates the 2004-05 theatre season. The product resembles a high school or college yearbook, but "celebrates the people who act in, write, produce, design and support the shows of Broadway." The comprehensive annual features not only photos of the performers who appeared on Broadway during the season, but also shots of the creative teams, the producers and the backstage crew. There are also photos from theatre-related special events like the Tony Awards, "Broadway on Broadway" and "Gypsy of the Year." Flea Marketgoers will also be able to purchase the DVD to the recent sold-out "Leading Men" concert at Joe's Pub. Hosted by John Tartaglia, the BC/EFA benefit boasted performances by Tom Andersen, Scott Coulter, Tom D'Angora,Tim Di Pasqua, Brian and Ted Farley, Barrett Foa,Cheyenne Jackson, Chad Kimball, Matthew Morrison, Jai Rodriguez, Christopher Sieber, Ben Strothmann and Max von Essen.

Last year's event raised $419,464 for BC/EFA. It was the second consecutive year that the United Scenic Designers table raised the most for the charitable organization, bringing in $16,923; the Wicked table took in $12,788 and Avenue Q collected $11,944. A day at The Phantom of the Opera was the big winner in the Grand Auction — the high bid for that package was $8,500. And, two Bette Midler packages, including tickets to her concerts, brought in $7,500 each. The Silent Auction also earned quite a bit of money for BC/EFA, including an autographed Hirschfeld drawing of the late Gwen Verdon for $2,700.

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS is the nation’s largest industry-based, nonprofit AIDS fundraising and grant-making organization. Since its founding in 1988 the organization has distributed over $100 million for services for people with AIDS, HIV or HIV-related illnesses.
